Bike Officers Provide Security For Senate Bill 4 Protest
On August 1, 2017, the Central Bike Unit along with other public order trained bike officers from around the city deployed two bike squads for a march and protest to city hall over Senate Bill 4. Over 250 protesters march to the city council meeting to show their unity against SB4. The Fort Worth Bike Unit deployed about 30 officers to this protest to ensure everyone’s constitutional rights were protected. This demonstration went on for about 6 hours with no issues. Four officers from the Grand Prairie Police Bike Unit that have been training with the Central Bike Unit joined our squads to observe and get some real world experience.
The Citizens of Fort Worth should be proud of their bike officers and the professionalism they show during some of these controversial issues and protest. As one of the public order supervisors I am very proud of the professionalism and respect my officers show when working during these protests.
